A devotional book that I can see myself reading again, and again, and again! So much good within the pages that readers will absolutely love.

With all the wit and fun that Faith-Pump has brought to their Facebook Group and previous books, this new devotional will leave readers feeling refreshed and spirit soaring. One of the nicest things about this group of ladies is that anything they write is always exactly what I need to read at that moment. No matter what you are going through, you will always be able to find encouragement, wisdom and insight from this group. Each day comes with a story from the different authors that is filled with humor and more than enough personalization to make you feel like you are sitting on the couch with a group you might gather for bible studies on a regular basis.

This is the kind of book I see myself buying up all the copies and giving out to anyone I come into contact with. So much good within the pages, readers will have trouble spreading it out to 40 days if they are anything like me. As soon as I finished one day, I would continue to the next to see what other wisdom was on the pages for me. A lot of times when I pick up a devotional book, I will read a few pages and then put it aside and not think about it for a while. Not with Faith-Pump, I kept turning the pages and felt so encouraged as I kept reading. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone, if you are down you will be encouraged, if you are needing a laugh you will find it, if you just wonder what God might be saying to you, listen closely as you read and you will hear him talking to you. I am so happy I came across the Faith-Pump group on Facebook, it has been a huge blessing to me and I hope it will be to others that pick up this book.

Children’s Bible Stories for Bedtime

Author: Julie Lavender

Publisher: Z Kids

Release Date: January 11, 2022

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The perfect Bible story book for young kids that I love to see my young son reading on his own.

After a long day, kids need a way to wind down and a book with inspiring children’s Bible stories is just the right book to help with that. This is a wonderful collection of the first stories kids will learn about from the bible. Parents can sit down with their kids and pick a key biblical figure and go over their adventures together with illustrations that will capture kids’ attention and be a great conversation starter.

What I loved most about this was how easy it was to read with my son and know he was understanding and enjoying what we were talking about. It can be hard to get kids excited about reading the bible, but when they see the beautiful pictures and start reading the story that is written in a way they can understand it, this is a good way to get them engaged. Each story is broken down and short enough that the reader won’t lose interest. I love the end of each section that offers steps for settling down for the day, something that can be hard for kids and using these tips can really help. I recommend this book to everyone with small kids wanting a great addition to their nighttime routine that will not only help them settle for the day and feel good about the material their kids are seeing before closing their eyes for the night.

A Crocus in the Desert

A fantastic resource for women dealing with fertility issues and need help with their faith through a difficult journey.

If you are one of the more than ten percent of couples that struggles with infertility, you are not alone. Many people think they are alone and have no one to talk to when it comes to the issues of miscarriage, childlessness, adoption and infertility. So many try to shoulder the burden of it by themselves when there are resources like this book available to help them out. This book offers not only devotions but prayers and real-life stories for readers to latch onto and use to help keep them afloat in their times of desperation. Most women have a strong desire to be a mother, from playing with dolls and stuffed animals to babysitting later in life, the maternal instinct is real and something that is hard to ignore. Even when we might not understand it, we must be willing to listen to and follow God’s plan for our lives so we can see the beauty in what He has in store for us.

Nancy Williams does a fabulous job of weaving the devotions, prayers and stories together to give readers a sense of hope, purpose and belonging when they can feel utterly alone in their desperation to have children. For me, I used this book as encouragement and a way to help others who might be going through this difficult journey in life. Such a beautiful way to help those around when it can seem that nothing will help. I recommend this book to those struggling with the issue of fertility or as a gift to someone in the family who might be struggling with the issue and in need of encouragement.

Walk Run Soar

Publisher: Baker Books

Release Date: September 29, 2020

Rating: 4 out of 5.

No matter your pace, whether you walk, run, or soar, this book will give you some insights for the path you are taking.

Dorina Gilmore Young, with her husband Shawn, bring a fifty-two-week devotional for people that like to be active at whatever pace.  Dorina is a runner, both for competition and for fun, and she shares many of the insights that she has gained by running.  She lost her first husband to cancer and spends time dwelling on that relationship throughout many of the devotionals.  She also spends time on learning to hear Jesus, serving his mission, and conditioning our bodies for his work.  Each chapter is provided with a short narrative called Faith Fuel, an action item called Faith Step, a short couple of sentences for Inspiration, and a word of encouragement from her husband, Coach Shawn.  I have spent time reading a devotional each day after my bible reading and have found it very uplifting.  Each devotional also gives a section to write down notes during each day’s workouts and/or runs.  My husband uses this as he is an active runner and it has helped him think through some things when he runs.

Yours Truly, John

yours trulyAuthor: Traci Stead

Publisher: Bowker Publishing

Release Date: October 21, 2019

Rating: 5 Stars

Reviewer: Jessica Higgins

Traci Stead does an outstanding job crafting a story that will bring readers closer to Jesus and the miracles he performed by giving us scripture from the past and stories from the present in a thought-provoking study for all.

Throughout the book of John, we read of the miracles Jesus performed and how he was the one the world was waiting for. It is hard to relate those ancient miracles with more modern times and terms in an understandable way. In this study, these miracles are presented in both their ancient stories and in an example of more modern miracles which the reader can relate. Each chapter is weaved together with a campfire story of the ancient miracle, the relevant scripture for that miracle with questions, a modern story and an ending reflection. Every section is woven together with beautiful prose and stories that will help the reader in their pursuit of better understanding the bible and these miraculous signs.

This is not a bible study that is meant to be read quickly. Each chapter needs to be savored and let the full meaning of what Jesus has done and will still do soak in. I loved the way this book helped me see the gospel of John in a new way that never presented itself before. Story is one of the most powerful forces in the world, it comes in so many different forms. It was, and still is, one of the most popular ways to share history. Traci uses this story to help readers see that Jesus was and still is the one to come and we can rest assured that if we put our faith in him, we will go far. Miracles still happen and Jesus is out there waiting for us to come to him and see the works his hands can do. I recommend this book to those wanting to take a deeper study into the life of John and the miracles that Jesus has performed. Everyone can get something out of this study and I personally feel a deeper understanding for the material after reading it.
