A refreshing and fantastic debut novel from Deborah Clack. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!
Meredith Harper has dealt with more heartache than most. After four years of dealing with the tragedy of losing her family in a horrific accident, she is trying to find a way to move on with her life. Everything at home in Texas reminds her of all she lost and is hoping a change of scenery might help. Meredith heads to Colorado Springs to look at investment property and a fresh start. What she doesn’t expect to find is a chance at love, especially with a Hollywood star. She has always been a blubbering mess around anyone famous and when she meets Harlan Holcombe, she doesn’t know what to think of the handsome actor. Harlan is immediately struck by Meredith and even though she has a hard past, something he is also dealing with, he can’t get past the attraction he feels for her. Both have troubled past and have almost given up on love and wonder if this could be their chance.
Even After This is the debut novel by Deborah Clack and one of the best books I have read in a very long time. It seems to me that most of the books I’ve picked up in the last year or so lack originality, it is the same story over and over with different characters but nothing new and engaging. So, when I got this book I was honestly not expecting much. I am so happy to say I was proven very wrong. I loved everything about this book, the characters, the story, all of it was so well done. Hard to believe this is the first novel by Clack, this reads more like an experienced novelist with many books under their belt wrote. It may only be February, but I feel confident saying this will be at the top of my favorite books of the year list.
I received a complimentary copy of this title from the publisher. The views and opinions expressed within are my own.
